Key Responsibilities- Monitor client activities, providing personal, practical, and moral support as needed, including safe storage and recording of prescribed medications.
- Accurately record day-to-day happenings, maintaining logbooks and completing occurrence reports.
- Deliver life skills training, focusing on personal hygiene, mental and physical health, communication, and anger management.
- Act as a client advocate, promoting their interests and well-being.
- Liaise with referral sources and external agencies as required, ensuring seamless coordination of client care.
- Coordinate client care related to security issues, performing bed checks and room/personal searches.
- Handle admission, orientation, evaluation, and discharge procedures, ensuring ongoing enforcement of policies and client discipline.
- Manage finances related to room rentals and meal tickets, ensuring accurate receipting and remittance.
- Respond to program department telephone calls, recording and remitting messages as necessary.
This is a casual position with no guaranteed hours, requiring flexibility in scheduling. The work schedule will be determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to program requirements.
Qualifications and Education Requirements- A minimum of two years of Community College education or equivalent experience.
- WHMIS training.
- Current Certification in First Aid/CPR.
- Non-violent crisis intervention training.
- One year of prior related experience in a social service setting, including frontline work with women/children, life skills, and experience in a related field.
- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully, providing an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening.
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for The Salvation Army's mission and purpose, as related to position responsibilities.
