The People, Processes and Solutions team within Human Resources is currently seeking an Hourly temporary Advisor for approximately 6 months.

Reporting to Manager, People Processes and Solutions team, the Advisor will ensure accurate and timely action on processes and tasks related to the employee lifecycle and benefits. The position maintains a strong focus on customer service and continuous improvement and providing comprehensive and proactive support to the campus community for all staff groups. The work requires managing competing interests with satisfactory outcomes for all, including high need for accuracy and attention to detail, numerous conflicting deadlines, and continuously shifting priorities. The role has a strong focus on comprehensive and proactive HR customer service and support.

The work of the People Processes and Solutions team is performed within a deadline driven, collaborative, and service-oriented team environment; the work can be stressful at times. The ability to take initiative, collaborate and deliver results and services both efficiently and effectively is necessary to succeed.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Employee Lifecycle Administration

  • Process employment verification letters
  • Respond to questions and issues submitted through ticketing system; investigates and verifies information; informs other interested parties and provides feedback to employees and other university stakeholders on employee specific situations and business processes
  • Complete Job Opening Requests and related job postings on Careers website, and prepare offer letters as needed
  • Approve and finalize hires in PeopleSoft HCM through system tools and manual entry
  • Maintain data integrity for personal and hire information, query management and daily processes
  • Process resignations, retirements and terminations for all employees groups in PeopleSoft
  • Job change processing (online and manual)

Benefits Administration

  • Ensure accurate enrolment/ of health, dental, insurance, pension and other related employee coverages in PeopleSoft
  • Respond to questions and issues raised by employees or other parties; investigates and verifies information; informs other interested parties and provides feedback to employees and other university stakeholders on employee specific situations and business processes
  • Maintain data integrity for personal and benefit information, query management and daily processes

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Post secondary education in a related field (eg. Human Resources, Business Administration) and 2-3 years of recent, related experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Proven organizational and time management skills are required, with the ability to prioritize to meet deadlines, set priorities, manage competing deadlines, and meet commitments
  • Strong attention to detail, demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills are essential to deal with issues and concerns
  • High degree of initiative, requiring minimal supervision
  • A commitment to learning, and continuous improvement
  • Experience working in a unionized and post-secondary environment is an asset
  • Ability to function independently and also as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationship and collaborate with internal and external clients
  • Strong proficiency with Word, Excel, PeopleSoft or other HRIS
