Relief Part-time Recreation Assistant We are seeking a Recreation Assistant to support the health and well-being of residents in a hospital setting. Job Description The Recreation Assistant carries out established recreation programs that support residents' health and well-being. Key responsibilities include: • Carrying out resident recreation/leisure programs such as arts and crafts, sports, music, woodworking, cooking, horticulture, pool programs, cultural events, and community outings • Setting up and organizing furnishings and equipment for activity projects • Teaching the techniques of related activities to residents • Overseeing resident activities and reporting problems and/or changes to the Recreation Coordinator Responsibilities • Carries out resident recreation/leisure programs such as arts and crafts, sports, music, woodworking, cooking, horticulture, pool programs, cultural events, and community outings • Sets up and organizes furnishings and equipment for activity projects • Teaches the techniques of related activities to residents • Oversees resident activities and reports problems and/or changes to the Recreation Coordinator • Provides direction to volunteers during activity programs • Prepares food items with residents • Maintains inventory of equipment, tools and materials • Organizes and maintains program activity areas • Provides input and feedback with respect to recreation/leisure activities • Drives residents to and from outings and accompanies residents • Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications • Grade 12, completion of recognized recreational courses • Two years of recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience • Valid Class 4 BC Driver's License (unrestricted) • Food Safe Certificate • Current certification in Basic First Aid and CPR Level C About the Role As a Recreation Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work in a rapidly growing organization with health professionals who are excellent in their respective fields.
