As part of the Structural Maintenance team, the Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, inspection, and maintenance of several types of heavy equipment as well as the transportation of materials and equipment in compliance with federal and provincial regulations to support the Belledune Generating Station's Capital and OMA projects and supporting maintenance and operations during regular work activities. This includes the delivery and pickup of materials and equipment for other work groups and remote stations (Millbank, Nepisiguit and Eel River).

Key functions include:

• Operate trucks equipped with hydraulic devices and/or trailer, 33-ton boom truck, excavators, forklift, bobcat, tractor-trailer units, dump trucks, vacuum trucks, and hydraulic operated man lifts.

• Load, provide guidance and/or assist in the loading, transport and unloading of equipment and materials being moved in compliance with federal and provincial regulations as well as ensure associated documentation is complete and accurate.

• Perform routine inspections, minor repairs, and service of the equipment, as necessary, and maintain the vehicle logbook for all vehicles operated.

• Assist the Structural Maintenance department in all other aspects of its duties including general labour work when not operating equipment.

The ideal teammate will have:

• Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent

• Valid Class 1E Driver's License with air brake endorsement and clean abstract

• Red Seal Mobile Crane Operator

• Three years of experience operating a boom truck and other identified equipment

• One year of experience operating with a Class 1E driver's license

An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.

An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
