About This Role
The Product
The MADXR (Magnetic Anomaly Detection) is the latest generation of avionics system installed onboard surveillance airplanes and helicopters which allows for real time detection of submarines (hyperlink to product demo). The system has successfully demonstrated performance during test flights and is entering high volume production rate. Our engineering team is faced with the challenge of standardizing the product to enable mass production.
Job Summary
As part of the hardware engineering team, you will play a key role in the identification of requirements, definition, implementation, automation, and analysis of the production tests for the MAD-XR product. You will play a central role in improving the production test sequence with the objective to allow producing the MADXR in high volume while ensuring the quality of the product is maintained. Joining an inter-disciplinary team composed of electronics, avionics and mechanical engineers, you will be tasked to analyze the existing design and test sequence and identify improvements that will allow testing elements of the system at earlier stage, in more detail and more efficiently. You will implement a variety of tests (environment developed in C++) used to drive the test equipment. You will also contribute to the identification and implementation of strategies that will allow increasing the pass rate of the product. You will support the Hardware Lead and Program Manager from a testing point of view to ensure the solutions developed are coherent and functional to meet product development and milestone deliveries. This includes liaison with various CAE groups such as Production, Planning, Manufacturing Engineering and Global Strategic Sourcing as well as external suppliers.
The position requires on-site presence at CAE 8585 Chemin de la Côte-de-Liesse.

- You will act as the first point of contact with Production to support test anomalies and address production issues raised during the testing process
- You will investigate test failures, collect relevant data to identify trends
- You will produce test specifications that will be used to further characterize the MADXR system and describe troubleshooting step to take upon specific test failures
- You will identify and implement additional testing based on existing frameworks based on C++. Involves driving the MADXR with a variety of test equipment.
- You will make recommendations on design improvements to permanently address identified root causes of failure
- You will produce customer deliverable documentation describing amongst other things, system specification, configuration management, test procedure allowing verification of project requirements.
- You will lead the engineering effort associated to the standardization of the different test equipment.
- You will support Project Engineering to estimate test changes and identify associated risks.
- You will support various initiatives as required to meet product demands
You are a good fit if you have the following skills and qualities
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronics, avionics, aerospace or computer science engineering;
- 3-5 years of experience;
- Demonstrated experience working on avionics products considered a strong asset;
- Demonstrated experience working with electrical troubleshooting equipment including oscilloscopes, LCR meters, function generators, etc.;
- Demonstrated experience producing software interfacing with test equipment and programming microcontrollers considered an asset;
