We are seeking a skilled Medical Imaging Nurse to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our Interventional Radiology suite, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our team of physicians and technologists to perform diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide individualized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic imaging and interventional procedures, assessing their physical and psycho-social needs and identifying problems to develop and implement effective care plans.
  2. Assist Radiologists during procedures, setting up equipment, aseptic counting, and opening instruments and supplies, while also interpreting basic ECG data and anticipating the need for additional equipment.
  3. Perform a variety of health care interventions, including administering blood products and oxygen therapy, and maintaining critical care safety protocols for patients.
  4. Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and their families, providing emotional support and teaching them about specific procedures and post-procedure care.
  5. Anticipate and respond to unexpected critical situations during and after procedures, such as cardiac arrest, and initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation and/or administer appropriate medication.
  6. Organize priorities in response to fluctuating workload volumes and patient treatment requirements, assessing patients for discharge and collaborating with team members to ensure seamless care.
  7. Consult with and collaborate with peers and other caregivers to identify and resolve patient/family care issues, ethical dilemmas, and coordinate and integrate care.
  8. Document patient/family perspectives, nursing observations, and activities that support patient/family priorities, maintaining complete and accurate computerized and paper records.
  9. Use appropriate supplies and equipment for patient care, maintaining patient-monitoring equipment and handling, storing, and disposing of workplace hazardous materials and sharps in accordance with established procedures.
  10. Participate in unit/team/program activities to enhance and optimize the delivery of care, promoting quality management principles and identifying processes/procedures that require improvement.
  11. Apply an evidence-based approach to clinical problem-solving, evaluating results in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and participating in approved nursing and interdisciplinary research and special projects.
  12. Demonstrate and/or provide guidance on clinical and health-related tasks to designated caregivers and guide the clinical experience of assigned students and new staff.
  13. Maintain and update own clinical knowledge within the area of practice, developing a plan for professional development and reviewing progress to ensure goals are achieved within established time frames.
Qualifications

Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) is required. Completion of a recognized high acuity specialty nursing certificate and one (1) year of recent related interventional medical imaging experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, is also required. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate is necessary.
