As an Environmental Technician, you will have the opportunity to assist with field work, data management, sample management, independent research, and more.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assistance with field work, including carrying equipment, recording data, collecting samples, handling fish and invertebrates, and more.
• Field work may take place in remote areas and sometimes requires boating or ATV access, sampling in adverse or varying weather conditions, walking for extended periods of time, and flexible hours.
• Data management including recording in the field and inputting in excel.
• Sample management including labelling, storage, sending, and receiving.
• Independent research on subjects related to invasive species, species at risk, watershed management, fisheries, marine planning, and more.
• Assistance in proper use, maintenance, and storage of field equipment.
• Other duties might include taking photos for social media, assistance with drone exercises, participating in online training or courses, and more.

A candidate (student) must:

• Be a resident of New Brunswick (must have lived in New Brunswick for at least 6 months) or a First Nation community in New Brunswick;
• Be eligible to work in Canada (must have a valid SIN number);
• NOT be an immediate family member (spouse, children, parent, brother or sister) of the employer;
• Be a high school student entering grade 10, 11, or 12 in September 2024; OR
• Be a full-time Grade 12, university or college student in the current academic year of AND attending a post-secondary institution full-time in the fall of 2024.
