We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health and Safety (HSE) Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a champion of our safety culture, dedicated to reducing risks and promoting a safe working environment across our projects. This role is crucial in ensuring our employees are educated, compliant, and fully equipped to meet and exceed our HSE standards.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate targeted safety training sessions, ensuring all team members are knowledgeable about safety protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct regular on-site inspections, proactively identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop and refine site-specific safety plans.
  • Lead incident investigations and provide detailed reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Engage with field teams to reinforce safety standards and ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Analyze safety data to identify trends, assess program effectiveness, and recommend improvements.
  • Support operations in managing risk by advising on HSE topics, enhancing safe work procedures, and providing input on new initiatives.
  • Manage HSE documentation, ensuring records are up-to-date and easily accessible.
  • Stay current with industry regulations and best practices, ensuring compliance across all sites.

QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, standards, and best practices in the construction industry.
  • Proven ability to lead safety training and education programs.
  • Experience conducting site inspections and risk assessments, with a track record of implementing successful safety improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret safety data and develop actionable insights.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
