Job Title: Assistant Carpenter

New City Contracting is seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Carpenter to join our team. As an Assistant Carpenter, you will play a vital role in supporting our carpentry team and contributing to the success of our projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist experienced carpenters with various tasks, including framing, finishing, and custom woodwork.
  • Measure, cut, and prepare materials for installation, adhering to detailed instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Help install structures and fixtures, such as doors, windows, cabinetry, and drywall, ensuring high-quality results.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and stored properly.
  • Clean and prepare job sites, removing debris and ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment as needed, promoting efficient workflow.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth project completion and timely delivery.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by carpenters or site supervisors, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Requirements:
  • 2-4 years of experience in construction or carpentry, with a strong foundation in carpentry tools, materials, and techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of safety regulations and practices in the construction industry, with a commitment to maintaining a secure work environment.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail, with the ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (an asset), with relevant certifications in construction or carpentry (an asset).
