About the Role

As an Education Assistant - Individual(s), you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse physical, social, and cognitive needs. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to implement adaptations and strategies outlined in individualized education plans (IEPs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the ongoing planning and implementing of adaptations and strategies as outlined in the student IEP
  • Provide personal assistance and care, including wheelchair transfers and implementing behavior safety plans
  • Support students with learning disabilities, multiple handicapping conditions, challenging behaviors, and autism
  • Operate various types of special equipment
  • Facilitate the movement and positioning of students
Requirements
  • Grade 12 graduation
  • Post-secondary training in Special Education or related courses
  • Recent experience and training supporting ABA programs
  • Proven success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with parents, teachers, and students with exceptional needs
  • Ability to operate various types of special equipment
  • Valid B.C. Driver's license
  • Flexibility to undertake a variety of assignments
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
