Recipe Optimization Associate

Where the Chemistry Happens...We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for optimizing formulae for coatings in the North American Automotive market that meet customer specifications and fulfill stringent customer specifications and quality standards. In this role, you will participate in global, cross-team projects within the research community, as well as with sales, application technology, production, and quality.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your solid planning skills to define schedules/priorities for multiple assignments under limited supervision and persuade others when interacting with peers, customers, and management. Additionally, this role will allow you to share any experience you may have in OEM coatings technology scale-up and manufacturing processes.
Formula for Success: You Will...- Apply your knowledge of Paint Chemistry and laboratory experience for the recipe optimization of existing products as well as for new formula introductions.
- Identify, initiate, and lead projects to optimize recipes for manufacturing.
- Participate in regional and global project teams to lead or support new product development. You will take the lead role in transferring laboratory scale recipes to manufacturing.
- Review and interpret results to define and perform follow-up studies to meet project goals with R&D counterparts.
- Prepare oral presentations and written reports to communicate project status and results.
- Work as a subject matter expert supporting local manufacturing optimization projects.
- Routinely demonstrate your high-level awareness of process and environmental safety.
- Be familiar with all aspects of tinting paint and coating applications including in-depth and broad experience in paint process and manufacturing methodology.
- Interpret spectrophotometer data obtained using X-rite or BYK-mac i in a ColorCARE program (a BASF software) with the intent of improving formulae.
- Assure that product performance meets or exceeds customer expectations and support business objectives to be our customer's supplier of choice.
- Degree in Chemistry and a minimum of 5 years Automotive Coatings manufacturing experience.
- Knowledge of Paint Chemistry and laboratory experience.
- Demonstrated experience with design, execution, and documentation of research projects and resource management.
- Demonstrated experience in areas of Product Development, Applications Systems, Manufacturing Systems, and Color Matching Processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to successfully engage across the organization.
- Sound judgement and excellent collaborating skills to interface not only with scientists, engineers, and manufacturing associates but also with business colleagues and customers.
