CARFAIR - ASSEMBLER
Carfair Composites is a leader in fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) design and composites technology and has dedicated team members located in facilities between Winnipeg, MB (Canada), St. Cloud, MN (USA), and Anniston, AL (USA), Wausaukee, WI (USA) and Gillett, WI (USA).
POSITION SUMMARY
As an Assembler, your primary role will be to skillfully assemble high-quality products using hand tools. You will do this efficiently by following standard operating procedures, prioritizing safety, and working collaboratively with team members.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Maintains assigned/department tools and equipment.
- Prepares finished product for shipping.
- Performs structural repairs to all fiberglass components.
- Documents all non-conformities on a DIR and issues NCP tags.
- Assembles fiberglass parts, installs hardware, tapping plates or assorted inserts according to blueprints.
- Demonstrate the ability to train others.
- Must have the knowledge and ability to perform cosmetic repairs on fiberglass components.
- Cuts the surface of a fiberglass part evenly & squarely.
- Sands or grinds parts to a uniform thickness.
- Assembles parts using jigs and fixtures.
- Adheres to all Lean and 5s initiatives.
- Checks Customer Specification Sheet (Blueprint) to determine required assembly, exterior finish on product, and any special options.
- Complies with all safety and housekeeping rules and regulations.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Prior experience in composites or similar industry preferred
- Strong problem-solving ability including troubleshooting and resolving issues
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to reach and bend on a consistent basis
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task production environment
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload
- Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment
- Ability to work in harmony with others while maintaining a positive and professional attitude with overall success in mind
- Evidence of a satisfactory work record including performance, attendance and teamwork
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with issues logically and within the company guidelines
