Join our team at Stonehenge Therapeutic Community as a Peer Support Worker and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals struggling with addiction and mental health issues.
About the RoleThis is a full-time, permanent position that requires a flexible schedule to support program delivery. Evening and weekend work may be required, and travel throughout the Waterloo and Guelph Wellington regions is necessary.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver support in a manner consistent with a peer scope of practice, reflecting key principles of harm reduction and recovery-oriented approaches to care.
- Engage with program participants to facilitate the development of strong, peer support connections and achieve wellness goals.
- Partner with participants to connect to local resources, provide service navigation support, and appointment accompaniment as needed.
- Co-facilitate house meetings, psycho-educational and support groups, and provide crisis planning and intervention as required.
- Work effectively with the broader Supportive Addiction & Mental Health Housing Team, including clinical staff and external service providers.
- Participate in program development activities, including program evaluation, data collection, and process improvement.
- Make referrals to internal and/or external programs or services as appropriate.
- Lived experience of substance use disorder and recovery required (mental health recovery an asset).
- Post-secondary education in addictions, social services, or a related field.
- Minimum one year of progressive experience in addictions or mental health, with experience in concurrent disorders or trauma-informed practice an asset.
- Experience providing support to individuals experiencing addiction/concurrent disorders in a community-based program.
- Front-line experience providing crisis management, outreach services, and community-based supports.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of services available in the Waterloo Wellington and Guelph Wellington Region preferred.
