Summer Analyst Position at Major Rock

  • Rocky Mountaineer operates luxury scenic trains on four rail routes in British Columbia, Alberta, Colorado, and Utah
  • Alder Bay Equity Partners invests in privately held businesses in Western Canada with a focus on building product distribution, third party logistics and agriculture
  • Invictus Properties invests in commercial and industrial real estate properties in British Columbia
  • Armstrong Family Foundation supports the betterment of our local communities, particularly regarding health, education, and environmental conservation
About Your Role

As a Summer Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting our investment team and contributing to the growth and success of our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform investment analysis and execute transactions
    • Conduct preliminary analysis of investment opportunities and prepare summary reports
    • Perform in-depth due diligence of potential investments, identifying key investment merits and risks
    • Build detailed financial models, including sensitivity analyses and review of financial projections and valuation assumptions
    • Participate in the preparation of investment recommendation memorandums for investment approval
    • Present findings to various committees as required
  • Manage existing investments
    • Monitor financial and operating results
    • Interact with management and partners
    • Collaborate with management teams of portfolio companies on specific value-creation projects
Requirements
  • Currently completing a university degree with strong academic standing
  • Strong technical accounting and finance skills, including experience in building financial models and working with financial statements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A detail-oriented individual with a passion for investing who is a dynamic and proactive team player
