Lead operational support services team in a wholesale environment, overseeing health and safety, process improvement, and team motivation to achieve department and organizational goals.

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is a government agency responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis in British Columbia. The LDB operates the retail brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores, and is committed to improving services and ensuring a sustainable province for future generations.

The Wholesale Operations division is the hub of beverage alcohol distribution in British Columbia, working in partnership with suppliers to maintain a resilient and responsive supply chain. The division has three business units: Wholesale Supply Chain, Pricing & Imports and Distribution, and Distribution.

This position is accountable for leading the operational support services team across all shifts, including oversight of support services, health and safety, and process improvement. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading teams to motivate them towards achieving department and organizational goals
  • Coaching and mentoring direct reports
  • Developing and recommending operating and capital budgets
  • Monitoring spend and ensuring key performance indicators are achieved
  • Collaborating with senior leaders to plan and execute department accountabilities

The Senior Manager, Support Services, will lead continuous improvement initiatives linked to strategic objectives and ensure consistent high standards of safety, accuracy, and efficiency are achieved. A criminal record check is required for this position.

This position operates in a multi-shift facility and requires occasional travel, sometimes overnight. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.

Key qualifications for this position include:

  • Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certificate
  • Minimum 5 years recent experience working in a wholesale environment
  • Minimum 3 years recent experience leading teams in a health and safety, training, customer care, or continuous improvement role
  • Experience with developing process design and process mapping
  • Experience with developing and writing Standard Operating Procedures
  • Experience with project management and change management

Preference may be given to candidates with a degree or diploma in business administration, operations management, or related field, or experience working in a unionized environment.
