JOB SUMMARY

The Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is responsible for building a healthy, inclusive and vibrant City, as well as ensuring that communities, residents and visitors have access to the recreation and cultural places, programs, events and services that allow them to experience all the benefits the City has to offer, and overseeing Buildings and Facilities Management for improved service delivery integration, ensuring the best possible client experience in City facilities.

You are responsible for teaching specialized aquafitness programming to participants in a safe and enjoyable manner while following the guidelines of the certifying agency, and in accordance with corporate and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines and standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of Grade 11 and current

Certifications from a recognized certifying organization (or equivalent as deemed acceptable by management)

Minimum of 6 months of experience or equivalent apprenticeship

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES Aquafitness Instructor Specialty certification (CALA, YM-YWCA, WaterART or other recognized certification)Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificatesAODA Accessibility/IASR TrainingCurrent National Lifeguard Pool certificate is an assetCurrent Oxygen Therapy or LSS Airway Management certificate is an assetKNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of specialty area, including but not limited to, demographic needs, goals and objectives and how to safely design and facilitate specialty fitness programs

  • Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
