Job Description Summary:

The Custodian will work under the supervision of the Custodial Manager or Supervisor to perform a variety of custodial duties, adhering to established standards, instructions, and procedures.

Job Description:

  • Custodial Duties:
    • Sweep, mop, and wash floors and other surfaces
    • Operate light and heavy floor buffers and shampoo machines
    • Vacuum rugs in offices and public areas
    • Clean and dust furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, chairs, door trim, light fixtures, and other horizontal surfaces
    • Wash windowsills, glass in interior doors, partitions, and specified windows
    • Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies
    • Monitor and report defects, such as clogged urinals and lights out
    • Collect building trash and replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers
    • Sweep or shovel snow from steps and walkways
    • Perform periodic work, including high dusting, leather and wood surface polishing, and wall washing
  • Requirements:
    • No previous experience required for basic cleaning responsibilities
    • Ability to take direction, work with minimal supervision, and function cooperatively as part of a team
    • Ability to use cleaning tools and equipment
    • Use of a portable vacuum cleaner
    • Attention to detail, pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high levels of energy and endurance
