Job Summary
The Assistant Housekeeping Manager will be responsible for managing and coordinating a team of housekeeping staff, ensuring that all common areas and rooms meet our resort's high standards. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate a team of housekeeping staff, including Room Attendants, Supervisors, House Persons, Public Spaces Attendants, Pool Attendants, and Laundry Attendants.
- Be a visible leader, supporting laundry and housekeeping staff in their duties and ensuring that all common areas and rooms meet our resort's standards.
- Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and uniforms, and prepare purchase requisitions as needed.
- Supervise staff and plan and coordinate activities of department workers.
- Assist management in establishing and implementing operational procedures for the housekeeping department.
- Co-ordinate inspection of assigned areas and ensure that safety standards and departmental policies are met.
- Assist in conducting performance evaluations and appraisals.
- Schedule and assign duties of housekeeping staff.
- Ensure that local health and sanitation regulations are carried out.
- Respond to guest complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
- Liaise with maintenance team members to ensure that the property is well-maintained.
- Assist Front Office in overseeing emergency situations that may arise during the shift.
- Train, supervise, motivate, and coach housekeeping staff to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge needed to deliver exceptional service.
Requirements
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
- 1 year to less than 2 years of leadership experience and training in a luxury hotel or condo environment.
- Fast-paced environment, tight deadlines, attention to detail, combination of sitting, standing, walking, standing for extended periods, large workload, ability to handle weight up to 23kgs.
- Effective interpersonal skills, flexibility, interpersonal awareness, dependability, initiative, judgement, organized, team player, reliability, comfortable using computers and technology.
