Key Responsibilities
  • Environmental Compliance Programs
    • Develop, review, and update environmental procedures and training documents to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Support business units in executing and complying with environmental programs.
    • Participate in compliance audits to ensure effective execution.
    • Manage waste audit program execution with external consulting services to ensure compliance with regulated waste audits.
    • Report on results to audited facilities and maintain records for all environmental documents.
  • Environmental Emergency Response
    • Assist business units during environmental emergencies to ensure regulatory reporting requirements are met and timely deployment of effective clean-up efforts.
    • Verify that all actions taken during incident response were properly and thoroughly carried out.
    • Escalate critical incidents to Director and provide support to colleagues completing environmental incident reports.
    • Prepare teams in the event of interactions with authorities and provide support in developing a response to government officials.
  • Waste and Recycling Services
    • Interact with Maintenance and Enterprise Procurement Teams to support contract execution for compliance and alignment with scope and budget.
    • Maintain relationships with waste service vendors and manage their performance and compliance with contracts.
    • Review vendor processes to ensure Loblaw waste material is properly managed and is aligned with expectations and in compliance.
    • Manage recycling initiatives based on regional regulatory requirements and infrastructures.
    Requirements
    • University Degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Management.
    • 5-7 years of experience in environmental compliance, sustainability, and project management.
    • Highly skilled in environmental compliance, sustainability, and project management.
    • Ability to write concisely and clearly in both informal and formal applications.
    • Effective oral communications skills, with focus on educating, leading, and influencing others internally and externally.
    • Capacity to work cross-functionally with teams of multi-level stakeholder groups.
    • Strong presentation and public speaking capabilities.
    • Demonstrated skills in communication and critical thinking to assist during emergency situations.
    • Work effectively autonomously, in traditional and non-traditional workplace settings.
    • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of Programs, including Excel skills to manage large databases.
    • Bilingual in French is an asset.
