Merchant Underwriter Job Description

At OTT Financial Group, we are seeking a highly skilled Merchant Underwriter to join our Risk and Compliance Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of our merchant onboarding and management processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and execute the merchant underwriting framework to mitigate risks imposed by merchants on OTT.
  • Maintain and update underwriting procedures to ensure alignment with OTT's Underwriting Policy.
  • Evaluate risk and compliance activities, irregularities, and violations related to underwriting, and recommend policy amendments as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define acceptable underwriting risk thresholds and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and file risk and compliance reports, and identify, investigate, and report risk and compliance issues.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Underwriter or Risk and Compliance Specialist.
  • Actual work experience in merchant acquiring, payment processing, or risk management.
  • Relevant training or certifications in Anti-Money Laundering or Financial Crimes.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, excellent documenting and reporting skills, and ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external customers and vendors.
