Michif Child & Family Services (MCFS) Agency is a mandated child and family services agency with the responsibility to administer and manage culturally appropriate community-based child protection and support services for Metis and Inuit people in Manitoba.
The Child and Youth Care Worker's primary responsibility is to provide daily basic care, including emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs of youth, while maintaining a safe, stable, and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide basic housekeeping duties, including cooking and meal preparation.
- Report broken or damaged property and perform general maintenance.
- Follow daily routine duties and procedures, including wake up calls and bedtime procedures.
- Monitor and assess television, video, and computer use according to age-appropriate ratings.
- Administer medication as directed.
- Perform daily documentation, including incident reports, menu planning, and revisions.
- Provide transportation, supervision, and support to youth for family visits and scheduled appointments.
- Determine and document disciplinary actions for youth, communicating with other staff members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated understanding of Metis culture and communities.
- Satisfactory employment record.
- Grade 12 diploma.
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification (an asset).
- Current and valid CPR and Emergency First Aid certification.
- Ability to cook.
- Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong interpersonal, administrative, organizational, and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Ability to determine and assess potentially dangerous situations.
- Ability to stabilize and provide safety to residents and staff.
- Must be a permanent resident of Canada.
- Must have a current satisfactory employment record.
- Must have an Acceptable Child Abuse Registry Check, Prior Contact Check, and Criminal Records Check.
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle and a valid class 5F Manitoba driver's license.
