About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Infrastructure Engineer to join our team at Canonical. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of our MAAS test labs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lab Operations: Ensure the smooth operation of our fully automated server lab, remotely and while on-site, making sure it remains available to other teams.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory and layout of the hardware in the data centre.
  • Hardware Onboarding: Receive, install and configure new hardware.
  • MAAS Functionality: Actively exercise MAAS functionality by using integrations with testing and scheduling software such as Testflinger. Report issues and assist in troubleshooting.
  • Automation and Monitoring: Use your Python development skills to enhance software-driven operations of the data centre. Improve and extend hardware and network monitoring through automation.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other MAAS engineers, other data centre hardware specialists, teams responsible for certifying hardware for Ubuntu, kernel engineers and other teams who use the hardware lab.
Requirements
  • STEM Degree: STEM Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  • Organisational Skills: Excellent organisational skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail.
  • Data Centre Experience: Data centre experience.
  • Linux Administration: Linux Administration experience.
  • Python Programming: Python programming experience.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work with a globally distributed team of passionate engineers.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
