Maintenance Manager Job Description

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all building and power equipment in a Distribution Center. The ideal candidate must have knowledge of conveyors, schematics, forklifts, high-voltage electrical, motors, hydraulics, and general mechanics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair of all equipment, machinery, electrical and power systems, and building systems to ensure uninterrupted services and operations.
  • Recommend and plan maintenance programs and work schedules to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Install and repair equipment, and train employees on how to maintain machinery and perform trial runs to ensure performance rates and quality meet established specifications.
  • Manage facility layout changes throughout the building, including setting up conveyors, racking, relocating machinery and equipment, etc.
  • Assure that safety and security measures are established and implemented.
  • Assist various functions with manual labor tasks as needed, including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of schematics, battery maintenance, HVAC, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, D.C. Controllers, and A.C. Drives powered lift equipment.
  • Should be familiar with and capable of adhering to Lockout / Tagout procedures.
  • Knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures of equipment.
  • Must be proficient at diagnosing repair needs and troubleshooting electrical circuitry and systems.
  • Needs to have knowledge of forklift, order picker and reach truck repair.

Qualifications:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED, preferred.
  • Three (3) years to Five (5) years or more in Industrial Maintenance, required.
  • Three (3) years to Five (5) years or more in previous experience designing, implementing, and managing a preventative maintenance program, required.
