This is a critical position within MUFG Investor Services, responsible for providing a comprehensive blend of ESG reporting and technical accounting expertise. As an ESG Reporting Specialist, you will be the backbone of our company's ESG reporting, ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of our ESG data.
Key Responsibilities- ESG Data Management: Collection, preparation, and analysis of ESG data, focusing on the requirements of the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the expectations of other global regulators (e.g., TCFD) and Financial Accounting Standard Setters.
- ESG Reporting: Prepare and publish ESG and climate risk reports and disclosures, adhering to established ESG standards and frameworks.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with ESG disclosure requirements in Financial Statements.
- Industry Trends and Regulatory Updates: Monitor ESG industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging policies/standards, providing insights and recommendations to the business.
- Reporting and Presentations: Prepare and report on ESG matters to the Sustainability Committee, Senior Management, and Boards.
- Training and Development: Develop and deliver training materials to increase internal capacity around ESG governance and controls.
- Collaboration and Implementation: Collaborate with senior stakeholders to implement and adhere to the ESG strategy and roadmap of MUFG IS.
- Policy and Procedure Development: Assist in the development and implementation of ESG policies and procedures.
- Internal and External Audits: Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure accurate and timely ESG reporting.
- Technical Accounting Support: Assist the Director of Technical Accounting and Entity Control with various technical accounting issues under US GAAP, IFRS, and FRS 102.
- Financial Statement Preparation: Assist with the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and disclosures in compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and FRS 102.
- Research and Analysis: Research and analyze complex accounting issues and transactions, assess their impact on the organization, and formalize positions and recommendations.
- Accounting Policy and Procedure Development: Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures in line with US GAAP, IFRS, and FRS.
- Support to Auditors: Provide support to internal and external auditors during ESG, financial and operational audits.
- Regulatory Updates and Communication: Keep up to date with ESG regulatory changes and updates related to US GAAP, IFRS, and FRS 102.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate with stakeholders about the impact of changes in accounting standards on the company's financial reporting.
- A professional qualification in Finance, Accounting, Risk (ACA, ACCA, CPA), or similar.
- A certification in ESG or Sustainability (CFA, SASB, GRI) is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Experience in an ESG reporting and technical accounting role, preferably Big 4, Financial Services or Asset Management sector.
- Familiarity with ESG standards (TCFD, GRI, EU CSRD, PRI, SASB) and their application to our strategy and practices. Ability to prepare and review ESG reports.
- Understanding of IFRS, US GAAP, FRS 102, and Financial Statements preparation. Ability to research and interpret technical guidance.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
