About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Emergency Nurse Specialist or Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nurse to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary care team, you will provide exceptional care to our patients and their families in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, develop and implement individualized care plans, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Emergency Department Experience: Provide emergency care to pediatric patients, including resuscitation and stabilization, and work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Mental Health Expertise: Work with children, adolescents, and families to address mental health concerns, provide crisis intervention, and develop treatment plans.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination and provide emotional support to patients and families.
  • Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices, participate in ongoing education and training, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Experience: 1+ year of recent, related clinical experience in pediatrics or an Emergency Department setting for Pediatric Emergency Nurse Specialist roles, or 3 years' recent related experience working with children, adolescents, and families on an inpatient child/adolescent mental health unit for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nurse roles.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Strong assessment and critical thinking skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and knowledge of pediatric and mental health care principles and practices.
