Job Description
The Wealth Operations Tax and Client reporting team is responsible for overseeing the timely delivery of client statements, various tax products, data validation, and filings with various government authorities (CRA/IRS/MRQ). The team is responsible for providing support and guidance for a diverse range of issues, initiatives and projects impacting tax and client reporting that meet regulatory requirements and the highest client and partner service standards.
As part of the Tax Operations team, the Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and quality of data, by drawing data validation methods and strategies, process automation and driving meaningful insights from structured and unstructured data.
The candidate will possess data analytics experience and will be expected to collaborate with key partners to help build and evolve the quality verification framework. The Analyst will also work to investigate, improve, and redesign existing processes and pain points, with keen sense of finding the root cause of problems by sifting through data and metrics as well as strong interpersonal skills to lead change within diverse teams and skillsets.
Key Accountabilities:
Production support
- Provide a range of analytical/ process support, reporting, analytics and assist in the production of client statements, various tax products, and filings with various government authorities i.e. Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) & Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
- Support and assist in the generation of ad hoc queries, monthly reporting, UAT and production cycles
- Oversee the quality verification activities for client statements, tax reporting, rate of return performance and CRM2 reporting
Data Validation
- Support the development, operationalization and evolution of a robust data validation framework in support of timely identification and analysis of data integrity including building advanced automated queries to support outlier analyses for tax reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement and operationalize identified solutions to automate or enhance existing processes through the creation of analytical tools and workflows (using Alteryx and Excel)
- Write queries based on defined criteria to validate client statements and tax slips data points within big datasets from several data sources in an automated and recurrent way, providing auditable reports with the results
- Perform analysis and investigation to identify data trends, issues, outliers, and the associated root cause and potential solutions to enhance current processes
- Conduct ad-hoc quantitative analysis and provide support for data issues
- Participate in the development and maintenance of reports and dashboards created to communicate and manage the results of implemented data validation models
- Document business and technical requirements surrounding the data validation processes
Process Automation
- Map current state processes, analyze and understand business processes to identify technical requirements, identifying outdated tasks or technology and subsequently suggesting approach for improvements, standardization, and automation
- Drive continuous improvement of the current state Tax/client reporting Production model service level agreements (SLA) to enhance the client experience and operational efficiencies
- Support existing automated processes (Alteryx or Excel/Macro based processes) and implement changes as required
- Take a risk-based approach in applying innovative process automation solutions to unique problems across Tax and Client Reporting Operations
Must have
- Good experience with Alteryx and/or SQL, able to perform effective queries involving multiple tables and subqueries, data mining, and data manipulation
- Knowledge of VBA programming and experience building Excel Macros
- A general understanding of Banking Operations and interest in financial services
- Intense curiosity, desire to evoke change and optimize existing processes.
- Strong problem solving, logical thinking, quantitative and analytical abilities
- Strong initiative and willingness to learn and collaborate with teams
- Flexible and adaptable profile, comfortable working in uncertainty, and strong ability to learn new technologies or techniques
- 3-5 years' experience in analytical roles (data analysis, data validation, reporting, and analytics techniques)
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Wealth Management/ Investments (strong asset)
- Relevant experience in Tax/ Client Reporting, Wealth Management, Operations, Business Process Improvement/Analysis or related areas supporting lines of business
- Work experience with business intelligence and data visualization platforms - preferably with Tableau
