We're currently hiring two Product Operations roles within our Data team. A Product Operations Lead who will focus on supporting our Analytics Engineering (Data Engineering) team, and a Senior Product Operations Lead, who will partner with Discipline leads across Product, Data and Operations.

Data is the epicenter on sharing the signals of how Shopify is doing for our merchants and provides the insights on making key product decisions that touches millions of end users. What unites us is that the value we create for merchants is related in the following ways: (1) Our outputs help merchants scale their businesses; (2) Our insights tell stories that lead us to cutting edge products; (3) We use Shopify's scale to create products no one else can.

As a Product Operations Lead supporting the Analytics Engineering team, you will get to do things like:

  • Support Mission-Driven work and build systems and toolings for constant alignment, accountability and feedback for the teams across Shopify - specifically the Analytics Engineering team.
  • Support the Analytics Engineering team (and broader Data Engineering team) with Operational needs that support the quality, velocity and scalability of their work.
  • Provide visibility and alignment on Data team strategy and prioritization
  • Build and develop relationships with key stakeholders to improve efficiency, effectiveness and escalate areas of opportunities/risks to Leadership, all while building communication bridges between executives and hands on teams building our products.
  • Develop a deep understanding of how teams work and what's in their way, to solve bottlenecks, streamline communication, and help us focus and move faster to make merchants successful.
  • Collaborate with X-Shopify teams, Revenue/Commercial, Product, Infra, and Eng to disseminate insights leading to data-informed product development, and ensuring the right people are involved in critical decisions early, regardless of the team they're on
  • Structure and solve complex and ambiguous business issues for teams within the Data group
  • Lead and coach other Product Operations Managers

For the Senior Product Operations Lead supporting Discipline Leaders, you will get to do things like:

  • Partner with Discipline leads across Product, Data, and Operations to support discipline specific aims, drive operational deliverables, and help land Talent systems.
  • Stewardship of the Shopify Operating System - Single point of contact for Discipline Leads to work with the OS, tracking work happening in OS, tracking key milestones (e.g., impact review cycles, etc.), and reporting progress
  • Pair with Discipline Leaders to evaluate and draft Github change requests to update the desired state of each discipline (e.g., size & shape, job requirements, etc.)
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to drive iterations on current hiring systems to increase the quality bar of incoming candidates and remove barriers in decision making.
  • Partner with Discipline Leads and BPs to develop a strategy and execute on initiatives to increase Talent Density across Disciplines
  • Build systems and toolings for constant alignment, accountability and feedback for the teams across Shopify
  • Drive visibility and alignment on key strategy and prioritization
  • Build and develop relationships with key stakeholders to improve efficiency, effectiveness and escalate areas of opportunities/risks to Leadership, all while building communication bridges to reduce silos across Shopify.

  • Lead and coach other Product Operations Managers

For the Product Operations Lead supporting the Analytics Engineering team, you'll need:

  • Experience successfully leading complex operational and strategic initiatives for senior stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to deliver impact in ambiguous environments
  • Ability to go deep on problems and communicate credibly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience of problem-solving and analytical skills, including modeling and presentation skills
  • Experience in designing minimum viable process, think in systems while rolling up their sleeves to get things done
  • Strong ability to prioritize and juggle multiple priorities, proven at getting things done in a fast-paced dynamic & growing environment.

For the Senior Product Operations Lead supporting Discipline Leaders, you'll need:

  • Experience successfully leading complex operational and strategic initiatives for senior stakeholders
