The Import Logistics Manager will be responsible for coordinating shipments, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery of products while minimizing costs. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a strong understanding of international shipping regulations, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage import processes, including customs clearance, documentation, shipping, and delivery schedules.
  • Stay updated on changes in regulations that affect imports and report back any changes that may affect business processes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with international suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other logistics partners.
  • Optimize import costs by negotiating freight rates, transportation costs, and carrier contracts.
  • Coordinate logistics activities related to imports, tracking shipment milestones, and managing delivery schedules.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with importing goods, such as delays in customs clearance, transportation issues, or compliance issues.
  • Continuously improve import processes and procedures to enhance efficiency, meet planned ETA's, reduce costs, and minimize errors.
  • Maintain clear and regular communication with internal teams to coordinate import activities and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to import operations, such as on-time delivery performance, container utilization, and cost metrics.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies or disruptions in import operations, such as port strikes, weather delays, or supply chain disruptions.
  • Arrange transportation and logistics for shipments and transfers between facilities, ensuring timely delivery of goods to customers or warehouses.
  • Provide proactive approach to order statuses and excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and concerns related to logistics and shipments.
  • Monitor and execute efficient transfers of inter warehouse movements.
  • Become fully versed in, and utilize, logistics and supply chain management software and systems to facilitate and optimize logistics operations.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in logistics
  • Previous logistics experience and broad understanding of custom rules and regulations for import into Canada
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Highly organized, including follow-up skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines
  • Proactive and able to work independently
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Comfortable with being in-office and computer use
