About the RoleAs a Speech Language Pathologist, you will play a vital role in providing patient-centered care to individuals with communication and swallowing disorders. You will work collaboratively with our interprofessional care team to develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, promoting optimal health outcomes and functional independence.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' communication and swallowing abilities, identifying needs and goals for treatment.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, utilizing evidence-based practices and collaborating with patients and caregivers to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Provide education and training to patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on communication and swallowing techniques, as well as strategies for promoting health and preventing injury or disability.
- Participate in interprofessional care planning, ensuring seamless quality patient care and facilitating referrals to appropriate healthcare and community programs.
- Collaborate with patients and their families/caregivers to develop and implement care plans, promoting patient autonomy and dignity.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of patient progress, treatment plans, and test results, summarizing information into written reports as requested.
- Current registration with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHBC) including applicable College certification(s).
- Knowledge of speech language pathology theory and practice within a patient and family-centered model of care.
- Knowledge of the CSHBC standards of practice and practice guidelines for clinical practitioners.
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interprofessional care team.
