Health Care Assistant Job Opportunity

We are seeking a Health Care Assistant to provide personal care to patients in our Long Term Care and Acute Facilities.

About the Job

As a Health Care Assistant, you will work under the direction of a nurse to provide personal care to patients, including assisting with toileting, bathing, skin and hair care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, changing beds, patient positioning and mobilization.

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care to patients, including assisting with daily living activities
  • Observe and report patient progress, including any changes or concerns
  • Assist patients with meals and ensure dietary restrictions are maintained
  • Measure and record patient vital signs and obtain non-sterile specimens as directed
  • Transport patients using mechanical aids, such as wheelchairs and lifts
  • Assist with admission, discharge and transfer of patients
  • Perform general duties, such as answering phones and maintaining storage areas
Qualifications

We are looking for a Health Care Assistant with:

  • Grade 10 plus graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant program
  • Current Food Safe Level One certification
  • Ability to communicate effectively and deal with others effectively
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
