Regulatory Compliance Advisor

About this opportunity:
While this position involves collaborating closely with various departments and stakeholders, it is not intended to serve as a bottleneck or a pass-through for communication between them.
The ideal candidate for this role is someone with a strong background in regulatory compliance, preferably within the manufacturing or energy sector. They should possess excellent communication and collaboration skills to work optimally with site operations, maintenance staff, and other stakeholders. Additionally, they should be adept at program development and documentation, demonstrating the ability to handle responsibilities across multiple facilities and projects.
What you'll do:
- Advisor will be assigned full or partial responsibility for a specific facility or facilities within Cenovus' Canadian Downstream Manufacturing business.
- Initially this position will be assigned to the Lloydminster Upgrader-Complex to support Environment and Regulatory requirements at the Upgrader-Complex.
- Scope of work may include investigation, assessment and delineation of environmental contaminants, supervising environmental conditions to assess change over time, and developing programs to mitigate impacts when required.
- Will act as a resource where business unit decisions may be affected by site environmental conditions.
- Will work in close collaboration with a Senior Regulatory Compliance Advisor leading assigned environmental programs.
- Will work in close collaboration with site operations and maintenance staff.
- Will collaborate with subject matter experts across the Environment and Regulatory Department as required.
- Will be responsible for program development and documentation as required.
Who you are:
- Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science or related field is required.
- Master's Degree in Environmental Science or related field is an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental project management (soils investigations, air monitoring, waste management including characterization and documentation, wildlife management, etc).
- Minimum 2 years of experience managing consultants or contractors.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental assessment and remediation of soils and groundwater.
- Minimum 5 years of experience interacting with regulatory bodies and jurisdictions.
- Solid understanding of the Upgrading and Refining Industry.
