Seeking an actuary to lead North America Liability and Professional Liability portfolios, developing portfolio strategy and driving analytical decision-making.

The Global Casualty and Fin Pro actuarial team within Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is looking for an individual to take on the Actuarial lead for North America Liability and Professional Liability portfolios. This role offers a blend of technical leadership and business acumen, requiring a deep understanding of (sub)portfolio performance, loss drivers, and trends for each product.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Product Responsibility: pricing support for Liability, E&O, D&O, and Transactional Liability, with a focus on the D&O product
  • Analytical driven decision making: developing initiatives to understand drivers of profitability using actuarial segmentation analyses and working with business stakeholders to take advantage of opportunities and mitigate risks
  • Pricing tool development: taking ownership of the Pricing framework and ensuring effectiveness and oversight, leading the development of Swiss Re's market leading pricing models, and implementing these tools to support underwriting decision making
  • Strategy Development: collaborating with underwriting leadership to support strategy development and prioritizing execution strategies, partnering with the portfolio leader to monitor and evaluate existing and new opportunities efficiently to support both growth and remediation activity
  • Team: leadership, development, and coaching of four team members

We are the team providing actuarial and portfolio management support to Corporate Solutions liability businesses around the world. We work closely with our business partners to offer portfolio steering support based on data-driven decisions. Team members are encouraged to take ownership of their portfolios, becoming product experts, and advocates for their products to senior management.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of actuarial experience, including significant time spent pricing general and/or professional liability products
  • ACAS/FCAS designation required
  • D&O pricing experience preferred
  • Critical skills:
    • Self-motivation and ability to work independently
    • Ability to drive team performance
    • Strong organizational skills and internal drive to push projects forward
    • Curiosity to understand "what" the data is saying and "why"
    • Interest in developing data-based strategic actions with portfolio owners
    • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical colleagues
    • Creativity to consider actuarial problems in new ways
