Who you are:

  • Must be enrolled in an Engineering co-op (or internship) program at a recognized Canadian university.
  • Have Excellent computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly and concisely, using appropriate technical vocabulary.
  • Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license.

AMI Program

Discipline: Electrical Engineering || Location: Edmonton

Description:

  • Assist AMI team on deploying AMI meters, including AMI network design, process documentation, data management, data clean-up,
  • Analyze GIS data for existing AMI installation and determine / develop AMI meter procurement plan for future years.
  • Assist in communication with internal and external stakeholders, such as Rural Electricity Association, about AMI implementation.

Asset Information & Tools

Discipline: Electrical, Computer, Software Engineering || Location: Edmonton

Description:

  • Prepare and review process documentation, work instructions, and issue briefs
  • Use SQL and Python to query, process, report, and work with asset management data
  • Support User Acceptance Testing for new and existing applications
  • Support manual and automatic data entry into enterprise applications

Asset Management, Governance and Compliance

Discipline: Electrical, Civil Engineering || Location: Edmonton

Description:

  • Ensuring compliance with Alberta Reliability Standards as required by the AESO (Alberta Electric System Operator).
  • Ensuring evidence is accurately documented and archived.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve common issues related to Alberta Reliability Standards and Operating Policies and Procedures.

Distribution Design Engineering

Discipline: Electrical Engineering || Location: Edmonton(1) and Lloydminster (1).

Description:

  • Prepare designs using AutoCAD for projects compatible with pre-engineered standards, regulations, and meeting customer requirements.
  • Calculate structure loading & determine pole class and guy length requirements based on tangential and sheer loading & balancing of static forces.
  • Clearance calculations of overhead facilities
  • Size electrical equipment, wire, cable, and appropriate over-current protective devices
  • Develop project cost and resource estimates.
  • Prepare detailed material lists & ordering material.

Software's Used:

  • Microsoft Office 365
  • AutoCAD

Work Conditions:

  • 95% office based, 5% field based.
  • Hybrid schedule

Distribution Standards

Discipline: Electrical, Civil Engineering || Location: Grande Prairie

Description:

  • Creation and maintenance of Distribution standards for power pole structures, overhead and underground materials, design & construction guidelines, and padmount equipment structures.
  • Investigate new material for compliance to required codes & specifications and internal practices.
  • Investigate and answer questions posed to the Standards team by Design and Construction.
  • Review and analyze code changes and impacts to current ATCO standards.
  • Support the team in creating and organizing centralized documentation database (DEMS).
  • Program DEMS, DCSM and quality assurance workflows.

Electrical Transmission Lines & Civil Engineering

Discipline: Electrical, Civil Engineering || Location: Edmonton

Description:

  • Assist engineers for overall engineering and design of overhead transmission line.
  • Prepare drawings and design for a wide range of projects and standards including new electrical transmission line builds.
  • Assist engineers with supporting asset management team, field maintenance crews, and right of way planning team.

  • PLS-CAD

Large Distribution Design

Discipline: Electrical, Civil Engineering || Location: Edmonton

Description:

  • Provide engineering and project management support of large-scale distribution powerline projects, including project estimation, procurement of detailed design packages, preparing material lists and orders, and project implementation
  • Develop project cost and resource estimates

Work Management

Discipline: Electrical, Civil Engineering || Location: Grande Prairie

Description:

  • This position is responsible for supporting the Work Management team as they interact with the project and technical groups to stabilize the Work and Asset Management Program.
  • Provide exposure and allow direct interactions with the Transmission and Distribution operation teams.
  • Activities will include data entry and analysis, retrieving requested information, compiling documentation, process development monitoring and updating are some of the key aspects of this position.
  • In addition to these activities this role will support and possibly represent work management in collaboration efforts with other programs such as Grid Modernization and the Customer Experience.
