Future Students Communication & Events Specialist

Purpose

Reporting to the Manager, Future Students Office, the Future Students Communication & Events Specialist supports the current and evolving needs of student recruitment, assists in matters involving student data and privacy, and contributes to the continual improvement of efficiencies in student and stakeholder support.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:


•Assisting with and overseeing the development of future student communication strategies through various channels to engage with applicants and potential applicants, including the use of a Client Relationship Management (CRM) system;


•Maintaining the back-end operations of a CRM system, including contact record and digital communication troubleshooting, and upgrade testing;


•Developing and providing input for promotional print and multi-media materials used for recruitment and advising purposes;


•Assisting with the development and delivery of promotional campaigns;


•Organizing and assisting with on-campus events and tours;


•Screening and prioritizing telephone, email, web, in-person and other service channel requests from prospective students, current students, parents/sponsors, faculty and internal staff, and responding directly to inquiries as appropriate;


•Assessing and triaging the needs of all incoming prospective student contacts, and providing general information and detailed policy, admissions, and registration information as needed; and


•Organizing and representing UNBC at promotional campaigns and events on and off campus.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess an undergraduate degree together with a minimum of one year's experience in a student services setting in a post-secondary environment.

Knowledge and understanding of university administrative structures, policies and procedures is an asset, especially familiarity of the student life cycle and the delivery of academic programs, courses and services. A solid background in office procedures and practices is necessary, along with a high level of technical literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. A working knowledge and experience working with a Student Information System, as well as a Client Relationship Management system is an asset.

Demonstrated strong written communication skills are critical, with the ability to convey information and messaging well through formal correspondence and social media. A high degree of initiative and creativity,



as well as organizational and time management skills are necessary, with the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy. Problem solving and exercising good judgment are critical. There must be a demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students and the public using exceptional interpersonal skills, intercultural competence, and professionalism. Flexibility to assist where needed and the ability to work as an active team member are essential. Working knowledge of current privacy legislation is needed and public speaking experience for various-sized audiences is an asset.

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Salary

This position has been classified at a Grade 6. The annual salary range for this position is $57,148.00 to $59,495.80 and the normal starting salary will be $57,148.00.
