Job Description

The City of Ottawa is seeking Labourers to join its Public Works Department. As a Labourer, you will be responsible for operating Sidewalk Plow equipment and assisting in the management and maintenance of the urban and rural transportation network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Sidewalk Plow equipment
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of the urban and rural transportation network
  • Perform various tasks related to road maintenance and repair
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 10
  • Minimum of seven (7) months Operator experience required
  • Valid Ontario unrestricted DZ class driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
  • Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
Knowledge and Skills
  • Working knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation
  • General knowledge of corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to health and safety
  • Air brake endorsement
  • Defensive driving course
What You Need to Know
  • Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing
  • Driver's License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated; A valid Ontario unrestricted DZ class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
