Job Summary:

Seeking two social workers to join the qathet Complex Care Housing team to support clients' development of physical, social, emotional and life skills.

About the Role:
  • Full-time position, 35 hours/week
  • Monday – Sunday, 9am-5pm
  • $36.65/hour
  • Competitive extended health benefits and up to 4% matching RSP plan
  • Multiple locations in Powell River
About the Team:

Lift Community Services is a non-profit organization that focuses on helping people thrive in the qathet region by reducing social inequities and providing support and advocacy for those in need.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive social and psycho-social assessments
  • Collaborate with clients and interdisciplinary teams to facilitate transitions through the continuum of services
  • Provide individual, family and group counselling services
  • Assist clients with complex emotional and social needs
  • Refers clients to community services as needed
  • Attends case conferences and team meetings to ensure proper and effective treatment of clients
  • Prepares and maintains client records
  • Monitors extended leave certification
  • Engages in ongoing team planning, development, evaluation and quality improvement activities
Requirements:
  • Degree of Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work
  • Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers
  • Three years experience working in a psychiatric setting providing treatment services to individuals with complex mental health, addiction and chronic medical concerns
  • Experience with trauma-informed care and harm reduction approaches
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to personal vehicle for local area travel
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety
  • Ability to provide effective service in a variety of community settings and with diverse populations
  • Knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness
  • Knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation methodology
  • Ability to identify emotional, social, or environmental barriers and intervene to eliminate
  • Ability to effectively manage conflict situations and aggressive behavior
