Health Care Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Health Care Assistant to join our team at Fellburn Care Centre in Burnaby, BC. As a Health Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing person-centered care to our residents, promoting their independence and dignity.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with Activities of Daily Living: Provide support with toileting, bathing, skin care, grooming, dressing, and personal laundry, ensuring the comfort and well-being of our residents.
- Participate in Leisure Activities: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to organize and implement established leisure activities, encouraging resident participation and engagement.
- Support with Dining and Nutrition: Assist residents with meal preparation and dining, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.
- Observe and Report Changes: Monitor residents' behavior, abilities, and cognitive skills, documenting and reporting any changes to the interdisciplinary team.
- Perform Procedures and Tasks: Take temperatures, weights, and obtain laboratory specimens as directed, utilizing mechanical aids to transfer and position residents safely.
- Provide Orientation and Support: Welcome new residents and their families, orienting them to the care centre and its routines.
- Participate in Team Meetings and Conferences: Attend interdisciplinary team meetings, inservices, and family conferences to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Education and Experience: Grade 10, graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Skills and Abilities: Effective communication, ability to deal with others, teach, organize work, operate related equipment, and possess physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
