Seeking a skilled Social Worker to provide assessment, treatment, consultation and follow-up services to mentally ill elderly clients in a multidisciplinary team setting.

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Social Work, Clinical Counselling, Psychology or a related field, and 3 years of experience working with Geriatric Psychiatry clients.

Responsibilities include providing clinical social work services, carrying out treatment plans, providing consultation and support to families and caregivers, and maintaining clinical and statistical documentation.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and have the ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides clinical social work services to elderly clients and their caregivers, including assessment, treatment and follow-up services.
  • Carries out treatment plans and interventions, including monitoring the effects of psychotropic medication and providing counseling and crisis intervention.
  • Provides consultation, support and education to families and caregivers of mentally ill elderly clients.
  • Maintains clinical and statistical documentation, and provides referral services to medical, social and psychiatric services as necessary.
  • Cooperates with members of the interdisciplinary team and coordinates work with them in areas such as attendance at team meetings and conferences.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Clinical Counselling, Psychology or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience working with Geriatric Psychiatry clients.
  • Current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's license and possession of a personal vehicle.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
