Summary:

The Manager, Product Development is responsible for planning, forecasting, and executing the introduction of new residential products and the evolution of existing products across Enercare’s Home Services division. They will participate in cross-functional work teams across Marketing, Sales, Field, Operations, Marketing Communications, Call Centre, and Supply Chain and they will work externally with existing and new vendor partners. The Product Development team will translate the needs of the Home Services segment into a product roadmap that will nurture and grow Enercare’s segment leadership. They will prioritize customer intimacy, the development of strong value propositions and a continued competitive advantage as a strategy to deliver against the short- and long-term business plan. This position is supported by the Director, Product Development and will be part of a growing team of product development professionals. \


Your efforts and decisions will have a direct and immediate impact on the company’s success. This position is involved in product development across all our portfolios including HVAC, Hot Water, Maintenance and Protection Plans, Electrical and Plumbing Services and Air and Water Treatment. As an industry undergoing massive shifts in technology and competition, a desire to learn, lead and win is a must.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of Product POVs that highlight industry and market trends to tangibly address new market opportunities and/or gaps in existing product portfolio
  • Participate in the co-development of a forward-looking product roadmap including product selection, market evaluation, value proposition development, customer journey mapping, business case development and forecasting across line extensions and net new products
  • Act as a core member of the New Product Introduction (NPI) committee, owing the intaking and evaluating of new product opportunities for their respective portfolios. Role plays the key connection between sales, technical, field, and operation teams when introducing a new product.
  • Intake management tasks include reviewing the product’s technical specifications, analysis on operational impacts and challenges, sizing market demand of value proposition, and highlighting required internal IT, Inventory Management, Procurement, and Field Operations considerations
  • Co-lead successful product releases, managing activities across the entire end-to-end customer experience. Key activities will include multiple streams of work - change management, marketing campaigns, beginning/during/post sales customer support, call centre, accounting and billing, field operations and training
  • Build monthly, quarterly, and annual NPI and executive reports
  • Partner with the Product Management and Marketing team to develop pricing and offer strategies
  • Partner with internal groups such as Marketing, Training, Call Centre, and Marketing Communications to execute go-to-market plans


Desired Qualifications:

  • At least 2-5 years’ experience in a product analyst, development and/or management role
  • Expert level product management skills, specific to new product development process and implementing Stage Gate processes. CSPO and/or PMP certification being an asset
  • High technical proficiency, with the ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and highlight key pros/cons of a product specsheet
  • Must be a self-starter with a curiosity to tackle problems from a business/financial, operational, and customer perspectives
  • Strong financial acumen, specific to the development of business cases, financial models and unit economics
  • Experience in home services, utilities or energy sector being a strong asset
  • Exceptional verbal & written communication and presentation skills to multiple audience types, including Senior-level executives and field teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams to achieve results
  • An obsession with innovation that yields measurable business growth
