Cambrian College’s Human Resources Department requires a full-time Employee Development Specialist.
As an Employee Development Specialist at Cambrian College, your primary responsibility is to coordinate and organize staff development activities, training and workshops, as well as staff recognition and awards. In addition, you will be responsible for developing a robust orientation and onboarding program and other employee development initiatives, working collaboratively with Managers and new employees to provide an exceptional employee experience.
Reporting to the Manager, Employee Relations, the Employee Development Specialist will:
- Identify and implement emerging trends and technologies to continually enhance the effectiveness and accessibility of employee development initiatives.
- Design and coordinate comprehensive orientation and onboarding programs for new employees and leaders, incorporating best practices in organizational design and development.
- Promote, update, and maintain online training materials across various internal and external platforms, ensuring easy access and engagement.
- Assist in planning, evaluating, promoting and delivering professional development programs, including the integration of Strengths-based methodologies.
- Oversee the Professional Development (PD) program, including the approval and processing of PD funding requests and development leaves.
- Lead the planning and execution of the bi-annual Employee Engagement Survey and other engagement initiatives, providing actionable results to managers.
- Coordinate the planning and execution of the annual Employee Recognition event to celebrate and acknowledge employee contributions.
- Foster collaboration and compliance with college policies by demonstrating professionalism, discretion, diplomacy, and tact in all your interactions.
- Three (3) year diploma/degree; in Human Resources, Business or a related field, preferably complemented by a Human Resources Management post-diploma/degree certificate or Canadian Human Resources Professional (CHRL) designation.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Human Resources, including the development and maintenance of staff training, professional development programs, employee engagement activities, leadership development, and orientation/onboarding processes within a unionized environment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with emerging technologies for employee development.
- Self-directed, organized and resourceful professional with demonstrated ability to balance several complex and ongoing tasks.
- Excellent, client-focused verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate with various levels within the college.
