The Strategic Planning and Initiatives (SPI) department provides key services to the University in the areas of advanced data and financial analytics, business intelligence, strategic and operational planning and reporting, and project management.
Duties:
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Planning and Initiatives, the incumbent supports the work of the department across all key service areas. The ideal candidate will be passionate about higher education and will thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment with competing demands.

Analytics and Business Intelligence Support
  1. Responsible for conducting literature reviews, environmental scans, benchmarking analysis, investigating higher education trends and best practices, and presenting findings.
  2. Creates and edits resources and tools (templates, document management, infographics, etc.).
  3. Prepares and provides data reports and packages for academic program review and quality assurance purposes.
  4. Assists with the preparation, administration, and analysis of surveys initiated by the SPI department.
  5. Assists with data verification and accuracy checks to identify errors and/or inconsistencies so that anomalies can be resolved.
  6. Assists in the collection, qualitative analysis and reporting of data related to strategic initiatives and projects.
Planning, Reporting and Project Management Support
  1. Day-to-day general administrative services as required to support the department include ordering supplies, scheduling meetings, and maintenance of the department webpages.
  2. Responsible for maintenance of user accounts/licenses for the department's business intelligence software.
  3. Coordinates and supports facilitation of focus groups and workshops related to strategic initiatives and projects.
  4. Coordinates and schedules external reviewer site visits for program review.
  5. Contributes and provides administrative support to committees and working groups as needed.
  6. Responsible for maintaining project management tools for tracking project tasks, issues, deliverables and schedules.
  7. Drafts progress reports, project charters, and briefing notes as required.
  8. Assists with business process documentation and reviews.
Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in a research-intensive field such as Social Sciences, Economics, or Statistics.
  2. Minimum three years' recent experience in research and data analytics. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  3. Familiarity with the post-secondary sector and working knowledge of academic planning/quality assurance processes and systems, including curriculum development.
  4. Experience with Microsoft 365 for Business (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams and SharePoint) and project management tools for tracking tasks, issues, and schedules.
  5. Versatility and flexibility combined with a strong attention to detail is required to successfully perform complex, shifting work assignments.
  6. Superior written, oral, and visual communication skills with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences.
  7. Demonstrated ability to support change management interventions and strategies linked to organizational goals.
  8. Experience supporting projects, strategic and integrated planning, and collaborating with various leaders at all levels.
  9. Experience performing environmental scans, identifying trends, and creating documents and tools.
  10. Familiarity with survey research including questionnaire design, sample design, statistical analysis, and report writing.
  11. Experience managing software licenses.
  12. Experience performing qualitative data analysis, designing and executing research, reporting and data visualizations using tools like Tableau, Power BI, SPSS, NVivo, Excel, and Qualtrics.
  13. Experience performing literature reviews and using reference management software such as Zotero or Mendeley.
  14. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  15. Ability to understand and apply policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Change Management certification.
  2. Project Management Professional designation.
  3. Certified Business Process Professional (CBPP) designation.
  4. Experience in a comparable sized and unionized post-secondary setting.
