Job Description

The Assistant Surveyor is responsible for assisting the Surveyor in all field site-specific surveying activities including providing layout and elevations so that all construction activity can be properly built with in the desired locations.

  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys in order to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed
  • Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations, and other geodetic measurements
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites
  • Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain
  • Establish fixed points for use in making maps, using geodetic and engineering instruments
Qualifications
  • Security Clearance required
  • Technical diploma or equivalent experience in geomatics
  • A minimum of 1 yearexperience in commercial building survey
  • Leadership training and safety certificates
  • Experience with Revit and Navisworks is an asset
  • Experience doing surveying for formwork company an asset
  • Technical diploma and/or Gold Seal certification are considered assets
  • Able to read and interpret drawings, schematics and plans
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Civil3D or Micro survey.
  • An advanced understanding of all construction trades and techniques
  • Travel to sites is required
