About the Role

Reporting directly to the VP, Business Technology, the Technical Services Manager is a vital role within the Infrastructure and Operations team.

The manager's role is to lead the implementation, support, and administration of the technology environment, including but not limited to network, security, servers, databases, application environments, and backups.

The Manager is responsible for the day-to-day infrastructure operations and maintenance to minimize system downtime and maximize productivity.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage network, systems and database administrators (long term)
  • Devise and develop appropriate network architecture to support system and functional requirements; maintain a 99.9% uptime ratio for network and enterprise systems.
  • Oversee network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation.
  • Work closely with the security team to ensure EDR, MDR and other security related systems are operating at peak performance.
  • Manage internet and telecom accounts
  • Maintain all server and infrastructure documentation
  • Oversee server setup and installations (both cloud and onPrem where required).
  • Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network hardware, equipment and solutions including WAN, routers, switches, hubs, UPSs, telephone system, etc; manage and ensure effectiveness of servers and data, including SAN, email, database, web, print, virtual, remote access and backup servers, and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Develop and deploy methodologies for testing network performance and providing network performance statistics and reports.
  • Manage and ensure the effectiveness of disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
  • Scalability planning aligned to the needs of our businesses, client groups and growth strategies.
  • Work closely with the IT Service Desk to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues.
  • Personnel management of team including conducting performance evaluations, counselling/coaching as appropriate, ensuring ongoing development and education, and participating in the staffing/recruitment process.
  • Manage technology issue escalations and work relentlessly until a solution is obtained for the client, both internal and external
  • Attend, and participates in staff meetings and related activities, and attends workshops/training to keep current with application issues, trends, and opportunities.

  • In depth knowledge of backup management and methodologies including disaster recovery planning
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop, server and cloud technologies
  • Strong knowledge of Amazon Web Services technology platforms.
  • Understanding of remote support tools
