Story Behind the Need
Business group: Vendor Governance Management in North America
Project: The successful candidate will support Annual Governance activities. This involves collecting governance data across various programs inclusive of; measurement of SLAs, vendor IT background, issues related to contracts, or cybersecurity. The candidate will leverage last year’s data to compare with this year’s, ensuring the reporting data is ready for business discussions. The ideal candidate should be prepared to hit the ground running.
Typical Day in Role
The Manager, Vendor Governance reports to the Sr Director, Vendor Governance Management in North America (Business Unit) and is responsible for ensuring effective risk management of the Company’s vendors globally.
The incumbent will have a deep understanding of relevant risk management principles and best practices.
As a critical element of the first line of defense, the manager will monitor and manage vendor risk, including conducting inherent risk stratifications.
- Partner on an ongoing basis with business units, stakeholders & internal subject matter experts.
- Review Pre-Screening Questionnaires and Inherent risk questionnaires as part of the annual governance process and completed on a timely manner and required actions are taken.
- Complete pre-contract due diligence and assess impact of the risk assessments on the vendor.
- Prepare and complete annual risk governance for highest risk vendors, Appendices as per established policy, etc. Assess if any mandatory risks, (i.e. Information security, contractual, SLA, etc.) and act where required.
- Engage Information Risk Management and other risk Subject Matter Experts such as Legal, Compliance, Operational Risk Management, Investigative Services and Tax, as applicable.
- Complete pre-contract clause review of highest or heightened risk vendors.
- Escalate vendor risk issues and compliance problems that have not been adequately addressed.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in interpreting requirements and improving awareness of operational risks faced by the businesses from vendor failure/poor performance.
- Perform data aggregation, data analytics and reporting activities.
- Assist and manage any adhoc projects, as requested.
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
- 3+ years’ experience in vendor management or third-party risk, Operational or Enterprise Risk, Internal Audit or Corporate Procurement or Contracts.
- Information security knowledge, CISA certified or equivalent.
- 5+ years' of experience in a professional environment
- Fluent in Business English (written and oral). Position requires candidate to be able to successfully communicate with stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of relevant risk management practices and principles is required. As the first line of defense, the candidate will be hands-on in monitoring and managing vendor risk, including conducting inherent risk stratifications. They must possess knowledge of risk and control practices, procedures, and principles.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deliverables on time.

- Technical Proficiency: Strong PC skills, proficient in MS Excel*, Word, Access, and SharePoint*
Nice-To-Have Skills:
Experience in the financial industry is preferable.
Education:
- Bachelor’s preferred
- Certifications: CISA certified or equivalent
