Carlsberg Canada recently purchased Waterloo Brewing Ltd. so Carlsberg Canada includes the production, distribution and commercialization of Carlsberg and Waterloo products as well as various co-manufacturing partnerships.


Role Summary:

  • Primary responsibility is to provide oversight of the HSE program, implement company policies and ensure compliance to all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide hands-on support, coaching and leadership in the development, implementation, continuous improvement, and management of Carlsberg HSE standards and work practices to provide a safe working.


Accountabilities:

  • Ensure all Carlsberg HSE standards, method, tools, and processes are implemented in accordance with regional & global agreements.
  • Support, drive, and deploy group HSE strategy at the country level.
  • Perform HSE training and provide constant coaching to functional leaders and their teams.
  • Responsible to ensure all required HSE training is completed and in compliance with all standards and policies related to HSE.
  • Actively participates as part of regional and global HSE community.
  • Monitor Canadian health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations, and ensure operations adhere to all relevant legal obligations.
  • Review accidents and incidents and report as required.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents using root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans to address underlying causes.
  • Responsible for all safety, health and environment management systems and activities at the site.
  • Ensure HSE KPIs are implicitly understood and managed efficiently at an appropriate level.
  • Responsible for HSE data reporting at the Country level.
  • Setting and managing HSE department financial budget.
  • Supporting and advising Functional Heads in HSE improvement projects.
  • Conduct field observations and manage the local plan of HSE audits.
  • Supports local Management teams with service providers and contractors to ensure their compliance with local systems.
  • Driving Carlsberg excellence development in the area of responsibility.
  • Monitor workers compensation (WSIB), rehabilitation, and fitness-for-work activities in collaboration with HR.


Education & Qualifications:

  • University degree or post-secondary education in Engineering, relevant Health Science, Industrial Management, Health & Safety, or Environment Management or necessary experience from relative position in food/beverage manufacturing industry.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in HSE management in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of HSE regulations, legislation, and technical operations.
  • Designation as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional an asset.
  • Proficient computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel).
  • Energized by change management.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to individuals at all levels of the organization utilizing various means including oral, written and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Provides a sense of professionalism and purpose with proven problem-solving capacity. Considers details and big picture when solving problems.
  • Proactively aligns self and team towards the agreed priorities.
  • Actively promotes ''one - team'' spirit and collaboration.
  • Sets clear and stretch HSE objectives and rigorously tracks their delivery.
  • Plans affectively, sets priorities, and puts ideas into practice.
