IG Machine & Fibers Ltd. is a manufacturer of quality commercial and residential roofing products and part of the IKO Group of Companies. We presently have a full-time opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our team based in Brampton, Ontario.

Position Overview

The process engineer is a member of the operational management team that is focused on the performance of the process with respect to safety, quality, efficiency and cost. The process engineer is oriented toward continuous improvement through process optimization and innovation. The process engineer is expected to demonstrate shop floor leadership while enhancing the professional image of the operational management team through appropriate actions and communication. The process engineer contributes to all team discussions and activities, even when these activities do not fall within normal scope of the process engineer position. This position reports directly to the Plant Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Drive continuous improvement, identify improvement opportunities, cost savings, quality improvements, productivity, and reliability.
  2. Analyze production downtime and suggest actions.
  3. Analyze work tasks and develop Standard Operating Procedures, and Visual Work Instructions.
  4. Develop systems to measure and categorize waste and seconds.
  5. Implement process improvements to reduce the production of waste and seconds.
  6. Design industrial trials and present proposal to the operational team for approval.
  7. Drive progress through a rigorous approach to process standardization by reviewing the process and identifying process parameters to reduce process variability.
  8. Develop, monitor and execute project plans (Project Management).
  9. Ensure site compliance with corporate process standards.
  10. Support IKO’s core values and leadership behaviour.

The Process Engineer may be called upon to perform to:

  1. Lead process improvement teams.
  2. Conduct problem solving exercises.
  3. Lead plant tours.
  4. Cover for the absence of other team members.
  5. Lead a production shift for a period of time.
  6. Respond to customer complaints.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in Process/Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  3. Manage projects with a proven track record of successful projects on schedule and within cost constraints.
  4. Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.
  5. Structured problem solving skills.
  6. Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement initiatives including Lean Manufacturing.
  7. 5S knowledge and implementation preferred.
  8. Usage of tools and processes to ensure a successful accomplishment of expected goals.
  9. Project implementation skills from initial planning stages to completion.
  10. Excellent math and statistical analysis skills.
  11. Computer skills -- Proficient in MS Project, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, AutoCAD/Inventor.
  12. Understanding of Risk Management.
  13. Organizational skills; ability to manage short and long-term projects.
  14. Communication skills; verbal and written fluency in English, effective presentation skills, ability to communicate with individuals at all levels (shop floor personnel to senior management).
  15. Effective planning skills with prioritizing, time management skills.
  16. Ability to mentor/coach Junior Engineers.
  17. Excellent team player.
