About the Role

Your Responsibilities

  1. Ensure projects are delivered timely and meet all company standards, Customer specific standards and Customer requirements.
  2. Communicate with Customers in a professional manner.
  3. Validate current projects through Quality Gates reviews and provide feedback to Vendors for corrective actions.
  4. Perform preliminary spring-back studies to understand overall dimensional risk, measuring fixture concept and spring-back compensation planning. Generate a report with findings.
  5. Analyze Sigma (Robustness) studies for performance and effect on each part.
  6. Drive the Engineering review process to ensure the deliverables are met with quality, on time and hold the vendors accountable.
  7. Perform functional die planning review for hard-touch, pad/post clearance for part nesting and other relevant details for successful release for 3D cut data.
  8. Support all Press activities for First Part to gauge Correlation.
  9. Train other departments with processes.
  10. Audit and report KPI's or department measurable.
  11. Participate in all Lessons Learned activities including hosting workshops.
  12. Develop Best practice or standards for commodities.
  13. Lead Correlation activities or initiatives for the improvement of Formability, Cosmetic and dimensional results.
  14. Participate in or lead any soft tool review.
  15. Prepare cost Savings opportunities in the Engineering phase.
  16. Root Cause all open Formability / Process issues.
  17. Prepare preliminary Die process for Sales Department.
  18. Support all internal Departments.
  19. Travel required (Minimal).
  20. Prepare Engineering change request.
  21. Perform other reasonable duties as required.

Job Requirements

Who we are looking for

  1. Engineering Degree an Asset or 10 Years in Automotive Stamping with Class A closure panels.
  2. Understanding of:
    • Sheet metal formability.
    • Material properties of Various Sheetmetal and impact on Forming.
    • Die Process.
    • Die Designs.
    • How to interpret GD & T and how it relates to processing/development / Springback compensation.
    • Structural Analysis of cast components.
  3. Expert knowledge of running stamping formability simulations using one or more of the following software:
    • Autoform (Preferred).
    • PamStamp.
    • LS Dyna.
  4. Strong CAD software knowledge:
    • Catia (Preferred).
    • NX is an asset.
  5. Must be able to work unsupervised.
