Responsibilities may include:
Food preparation: Helping with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables, slicing meats, and measuring ingredients.
Cleaning and sanitizing: Keeping the kitchen clean and organized by washing dishes, wiping down surfaces, and sanitizing equipment.
Stocking supplies: Restocking food and supplies as needed, such as spices, oils, and other ingredients.
Assisting with cooking: Helping with tasks such as stirring pots, checking temperatures, and plating dishes.
Dishwashing: Operating and maintaining the dishwasher, and ensuring all dishes and utensils are clean and sanitized.
Supporting other kitchen staff: Helping other kitchen staff as needed, such as delivering food to customers or assisting with kitchen cleanup.
Following food safety guidelines: Following food safety guidelines and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
Other duties as assigned: Assisting with any other tasks as assigned by the head chef or kitchen manager.
Qualifications:
Prior experience in a kitchen environment is preferred, but not always required.
Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects.
Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights and weekends.
