Job Opportunity: Senior Project Managers - Transit

Gannett Fleming is looking for two Senior Project Managers in the Toronto area. This position is highly responsible, managerial, and supervisory in support of the assigned project. These positions require effective team leaders who can mentor project team members and foster a working environment where project staff who are culturally diverse can work together cooperatively to deliver the project on-time and on-budget.

These individuals will assist in the planning, development, and controlling of major aspects of work associated with the assigned project. In an increasingly complex and financially constrained environment, Gannett Fleming recognizes that safety, operating efficiency, state of good repair, stakeholder requirements, and risk mitigation drive program success. We provide planning, engineering, program delivery, testing, and commissioning services to the transit and freight rail industries and offer extensive experience in rail and bus systems, transit facilities, and civil and structural infrastructure.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Supervise project team efforts for the assigned project.
  2. Work constructively with project team members to resolve issues.
  3. Coordinate the review of the scope of work between engineering and installation teams.
  4. Coordinate the development of bid packages including scope of work, supporting documentation, independent cost estimates, and purchase requisitions.
  5. Assist in the planning, development, and upkeep of the project schedule.
  6. Confer with the project team on a weekly basis.
  7. Continually monitor and manage costs including procurements, labour, and other costs against the project budget.
  8. Continually report progress as required to record the advancement of the project.
  9. Closely monitor performance metrics against established key performance indicators and provide weekly and monthly reports to the Project Manager, Authority officials, and other agencies.
  10. Attend or conduct design, survey, and production meetings with each discipline involved as needed to ensure effective project control.
  11. Coordinate with the project Quality/Safety Manager to ensure that proper measures are in place to assure that quality and safety objectives are being met and to ensure effective project control.
  12. Prepare project-related correspondence to consultants, contractors, Authority officials, and other agencies.
  13. Manage project deliverables.
  14. Complete a daily work report that outlines the work completed for the day.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Must have at least 15 years of demonstrable experience in the same.
  2. Prior experience leading medium to large scale transit projects.
  3. A minimum of 8 years demonstrable experience managing large projects or proven ability to manage complex budgets and schedules.
  4. P. Eng is required.
  5. PMP certification strongly preferred.
  6. Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
  7. Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  8. Must have reliable transportation.
  9. Must be able to work nights and weekends if necessary.
