The Health and Safety Coordinator will assist with the implementation and maintenance of health and safety programs, procedures and processes to prevent and reduce the frequency and severity of workplace accidents.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in coordinating the company’s health and safety activities and requirements.
  2. Implement policies, procedures, and programs to comply with regulatory health and safety requirements.
  3. Assist with auditing processes, and in implementing effective health and safety solutions.
  4. May travel to project sites to perform periodic audits and training, to ensure and enforce health and safety regulations/requirements.
  5. Prepare periodic health and safety reports and statistics.
  6. Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings to identify and address hazards, conduct inspections, and make recommendations to management.
  7. Participate in investigation and case management of workplace injury and incidents.
  8. Implement periodic health and safety advisories to target specific hazards and participate in emergency planning/response.
  9. Communicate with external health and safety providers regarding training services, equipment, and PPEs.
  10. Update and maintain health and safety training matrices, safety equipment, and PPEs.
Qualifications
  1. Post-Secondary education in Human Resources, other relevant disciplines, and/or OHS Certificate.
  2. Working knowledge of OHSA - Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  3. Previous exposure to and experience with incident and accident investigation and report writing.
  4. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  6. Demonstrated organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  7. Strong sense of urgency.
  8. Advanced knowledge of MS Office.
  9. Access to a vehicle with a G driver’s licence and clean driver’s abstract for travel to customer/work sites on short notice.
  10. Able and willing to be available after hours for on-call emergencies.
